The girl from the bus
One of my favorite photos is this one, which I have called "The girl from
the bus". Near the town of Matagalpa
in Nicaragua
in 2007, my wife and I flagged down the local bus this inquisitive girl was riding.
I rarely scout out a location and a photo, rather I prefer to let life happen
around me, and capture the vitality of people as they go about their daily
lives. Bouncing along the highway we found ourselves people watching in
the bus, from farmers with chickens and produce, mothers with their young, and
school children like this young girl coming and going. It was in this
environment that the image of this girl and her curiosity was taken. In such a
vibrant atmosphere, it's hard not to be drawn in to the culture of a country
and its people.
